Mele Brink was born in Bielefeld in 1968, spent her youth in the East Westphalian hinterland and came to Aachen to study architecture. After successfully completing her degree in the form of a mobile memorial for Lady Di, however, she preferred to go freelance as an illustrator in 1998.
Since then, she has produced mainly cheerful illustrations, cartoons and comics for various clients. Mostly ‘oldschool’ with ink and watercolour, sometimes with crayons, very rarely on the computer.
With the founding of Edition Pastorplatz (being one of the two parts of the publishing house), she has also been enthusiastically drawing children’s books. Sometimes more cartoony, sometimes dreamier, sometimes more lovely. Depending on what suits the text and the book best.
She also has a great fondness for sausage. Drawn sausage. In all situations.
